H&W Gantry Crane

Belfast Iconic Crane made with Jesmonite®

From the streets of Belfast City, the skyline is dominated by the towering forms of Cave Hill, Black and Divis Mountains and the two 'Goliath' type gantry cranes of Harland and Wolff shipyard.
Since they were installed in 1969 and '74 at Queen's Island Belfast, (one of Europe's largest drydocks at 556 metres long), the big bright yellow cranes have become a popular symbol of the city.

These stylised three dimensional representations of the iconic cranes have been designed and hand made at Kingsroad Studios, Belfast using Jesmonite®, a sustainable composite material used in Fine Arts, Crafts and Construction.
